Here's a great example of another open-sourced, self sustaining system that merges with its environment in a symbiotic relationship. Open Sailing is a proposal for an ocean based living vessel that is reactive to weather conditions and is mutually beneficial for its host and inhabitants. As well as suggesting serious innovations in energy production and consumption, ecological harmony and resilience to weather trauma, the project also extends as a platform for oceanic exploration and lab experimentation akin to that of the International Space Station.
